Top Safety Accreditation for Envirodoor Ltd
Envirodoor is one of the latest group of successful companies

The Willerby based firm recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practices amongst UK contractors.

SAFEcontractor is operated by international safety, health and environmental risk management specialists, the National Britannia Group. The system is applicable to most sectors although it is particularly relevant to food manufacture, property, facilities management, retail and leisure sectors, all of which are big users of contract services.
Darran Hughes, Operations Director for SAFEcontractor at National Britannia said "Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety polices".
"More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Envirodoor Ltd has done. The firms' high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector".
Under the SAFEcontractor system, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice.
Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via website, www.safecontractor.com.
Employer-organisations who sign up to the scheme can access the database, which enables them to vet potential contractors before they even set foot on site. These employers agree that, as users of the scheme, they will engage only those who have received accreditation.
Over 100 major nation-wide businesses, from several key sectors, have signed up to use the scheme when selecting contractors for services such as building, cleaning, maintenance, refurbishment or electrical and mechanical work.
The O2 Dome Opens
The long awaited O2 dome finally opened it's doors to the public with a spectacular sell out show from ageing rockers Bon Jovi. The gig held on the 24th of June marked the opening of the £500million project, to convert the Dome into a multi purpose venue. The concert was the first time Envirodoor's redesigned doors were used by the public.
Envirodoor originally designed and fitted the bespoke roller shutters in 1999 before the Millennium Dome first opened. After the Dome shut at the end of 2000 the doors remained dormant for over five years. It wasn't until renovation work began last year that the doors were in need to be re-commissioned. There was therefore no debate as to who would be the best company to handle the new project. Envirodoor were selected to service and renovate all 72 doors in order to ensure they will remain in perfect working order long into the future of the venue.
Envirodoor's family grows further
Only a few months after adding to our sales force, Envirodoor's team has increased yet again, with the addition of two further team members. An increased demand for Envirodoors services has led to the decision to expand our after sales team. Daniel Westmorland has been appointed as Service and Repairs Manager. His engineering background will stand him in good stead for his role dealing with the day-to-day maintenance of existing Envirodoor products. In addition to Daniel Envirodoor have also employed a new regional fitter. Gareth Watts will be based in the midlands area and will be a welcome addition to our fitting team.
Hermetically sealing doors:
The Webster Theatre in Arbroath is set to be the latest in a line of distinguished locations to benefit from Envirodoor's hermetically sealing acoustic door. They have just ordered a custom built 2.5m x 3.5m AM 2P automated sliding acoustic door, boasting a noise reduction of 50dB. The high noise reduction is possible because of the doors unique closing and sealing mechanism. The doors weight actively presses on the seals, making them tighter than a standard seal. This gives them superior sealing qualities at the head, jams and cylinder. A similar type of acoustic door has been used in several other high profile recording studios, universities and theatres.
